A Movement for Souls

The Fulton Sheen Movement exists to reignite and fan into flame a global renewal of faith by bringing the life, mission and wisdom of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen to a world in crisis.

This is not simply a project of preservation. It is a work of participation.

We believe Sheen’s voice was not meant to remain in the past. His clarity, courage, and supernatural vision are urgently needed today. At a time marked by confusion, fragmentation, and a crisis of identity, his message cuts through the noise with conviction and charity.

Through rallies, petitions, national tours, retreats, pilgrimages, media initiatives and formation experiences, the Movement seeks to awaken a new generation of Catholics who will not only admire Sheen, but imitate him.

Our Mission

The Fulton Sheen Movement is a global initiative dedicated to promoting, sharing, and embodying the teachings and heroic life of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen.

We exist to unify the voice of the faithful around his life and cause for canonization, while forming men and women who will carry forward his mission in the modern world.

We do this through:

Public rallies and national campaigns advancing awareness of Sheen’s cause
Petition efforts mobilizing the faithful worldwide
The nationwide relic tours and pilgrimages that bring Sheen to the people
Retreats and live formation experiences rooted in prayer and oriented toward conversion
Media, education and leadership development initiatives

Our aim is simple and demanding: to help Catholics live the Christian philosophy of life in its fullness in every dimension of their existence.

For Sheen, the answer to a broken world was never merely structural. It was personal holiness.

Our Expertise

25 Years Of Theological Experience

The Fulton Sheen Movement was founded by Dr. Peter Howard, S.T.D., a leading scholar on the life and teaching of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen.

Dr. Howard’s work began in 2008 at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) in Rome, where he completed one of the only doctoral dissertations approved for completion on Sheen’s theology.

His research focused on the centrality of Marian mediation in the mystery of the Incarnation and its mystical prolonging in the Church today. Presented according to Sheen’s biblical framework, it demonstrates how Sheen made the deepest truths of the Catholic faith accessible to all audiences without compromise.

Since 2008, Dr. Howard has dedicated his life to advancing Sheen’s mission globally through teaching, retreats, writing, media and formation.

He is the author of The Woman: Mary as Mediatrix in the Teaching of Fulton J. Sheen, and has appeared on major Catholic platforms including EWTN, Catholic Answers Live, Relevant Radio, and Shalom World.

Dr. Howard personally delivers Fulton Sheen Movement Petition to the Cause of Saints in Rome.

What exactly is the Fulton Sheen Movement?

The Fulton Sheen Movement is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the life, teaching, and mission of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen to a world in crisis. We are not a museum and not an archive. We exist to form people — to help Catholics think, pray, and love the way Sheen did, and to carry that formation into their homes, parishes, and work. We do this through rallies, pilgrimages, retreats, conferences, formation courses, media, and a worldwide community of members committed to a shared rule of prayer and generosity.

Are you affiliated with the Diocese of Peoria or the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation?

No. The Fulton Sheen Movement is an independent lay initiative and is not formally affiliated with the Diocese of Peoria or the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation. The Diocese of Peoria is the official promoter of Sheen’s cause for canonization and has carried that work for decades. Our role is different and complementary: we rally the faithful, spread devotion, form leaders, and help the world rediscover Sheen. Why does Sheen matter now?

Sheen spoke to a century that had lost its bearings — and he spoke to it in its own language, on its own airwaves, without softening a single truth. He reached millions on radio and television not by making the faith easier, but by making it intelligible. The confusion he diagnosed has not gone away; it has deepened. His clarity about the human person, his insistence that renewal begins in personal holiness rather than in structures, and his conviction that the hour before the Blessed Sacrament is the engine of all fruitful work are not historical curiosities. They are a working method, and it is available to anyone willing to take it up.

What does it mean to become a member?

Membership in the Fulton Sheen Movement is free, and it is a commitment rather than a subscription. Members take up a shared way of life drawn from Sheen’s own practice: a daily time of prayer and a weekly Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament, striving toward the daily Eucharistic Holy Hour; the World Mission Rosary; a personal consecration to Our Lady; regular giving to the most vulnerable; and ongoing formation of the mind by reading Sheen at the source. Do I have to be Catholic to be part of this?

The Movement is unmistakably Catholic in what it teaches and in the practices its members take up. But Sheen’s audience was never restricted to Catholics, and neither is ours. Anyone who wants to learn from him is welcome at our events, on our livestreams, and in our resources.
